Formulation Focus - Handwash Gel

Although the hand wash gel formulation may now appear obvious, finding simple ingredients to use, safe and stable in the presence of high percentages of alcohol is not always an easy task these days.

For this reason, our laboratory has developed two simple but effective formulations for frequent hand washing. The introduction of hyaluronic acid in different molecular weight counteracts the irritating and dehydrating action of alcohol, keeping the skin hydrated and protected for longer.

In addition to the traditional formula with Carbomer powder, we offer an alternative with ingredients in liquid form and easy to use, which allows to reduce significantly production times with substantial energy savings.

THICKENING 

POLACRIL® 40   (INCI: Carbomer)

  • Rheological modifier in powder form
  • Stable in presence of high alcohol concentrations (70%)
  • Allows to obtain transparent gels
  • Effective at low dosage

 
POLACRIL® DISP    (INCI: Acrylates Copolymer)

  • Liquid rheological modifier
  • Stable in presence of high alcohol concentrations (70%)
  • Allows to obtain transparent gels
  • Easy to use: added cold under simple stirring, followed by neutralization
 

PRESERVATIVE

ISOCIDE® PEC   (INCI: Phenoxyethanol, o-cymen-5-ol)

  • Preservative in liquid form
  • Soluble in alcohol
  • Broad spectrum antimicrobial efficacy (active against bacteria, yeasts and molds)
  • Recommended dose: 0.75%

AS AN ALTERNATIVE

ISOCIDE® OC  (INCI: o-cymen-5-ol)

  • Soluble in alcohol
  • Effective at low dosage (maximum use dose: 0.1%)
 

HYALURONIC ACIDS WITH DIFFERENT MOLECULAR WEIGHT

HYMAGICTM 4D  (INCI: Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate)

  • Liquid form
  • Made up of the association of 4 hyaluronic acids with different molecular weight
  • Forms a three-dimensional network capable of retaining hydration in the various skin layers
